Who am I?
Jonathon Romero is a college-level music educator, low brass specialist, and bass-baritone vocalist with a passion for both performance and mentorship. Throughout his career, he has championed music education across Mississippi and Alabama, founding a county-wide middle and high school honor band program in Meridian, MS, and reviving a long-dormant musical theatre program in Phil Campbell, AL. His work in the classroom and on the stage has empowered countless young musicians to find their voice — sometimes literally.
Now, as an author, Jonathon brings that same fire to storytelling. His debut memoir, Surviving the Suicide Disease, is part confessional, part battle cry — a raw, unfiltered journey through Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), framed through the emotional spectrum of the DC Lantern Corps. From the red heat of rage to the cold grip of fear, from the stubborn green of willpower to the blinding white of survival, he writes with all the intensity of a guy who’s basically had a ring for every emotion... except maybe Avarice (unless you count his pizza phase). It's a story for anyone who's ever felt invisible in their pain — and anyone still searching for their own light in the dark.
